The holiday season is a wonderful time filled with family, friends, twinkling lights, parties, and—perhaps most importantly—cookies. But we all know how easily the holidays can tip from joyful into stressful. The hustle and bustle of trying to fulfill social obligations coupled with the pressure to make the holidays magical for our loved ones can be overwhelming.
And then there’s the shopping! We often spend way too much time worrying over what to buy for people, and even more time cramming into crowded stores (or looking online) to find that perfect gift.
Here at Wildcrafter, we understand how stressful the holidays can be. That’s why we’ve compiled these healthy holiday gift ideas. They’re filled with thoughtful ideas for everyone on your list, from expectant moms to teachers to that friend who’s always on the go. Some of these healthy holiday gift ideas can be made by hand, giving you the opportunity to craft something unique and special while saving money (and avoiding the mall).
Without further ado, we present: Wildcrafter’s Healthy Holiday Gift Ideas. Enjoy!
For the Expectant Mom on Your List
We’re big believers in the power of healthy rituals to improve our lives. One ritual that the Wildcrafter, Tieraona Low Dog, MD, likes to encourage for pregnant women is the art of tea and journaling. She created this wonderful tea blend that she puts in a pretty package and gives along with a journal to the expectant moms in her life.
Knowing how sensitive and intuitive women are during pregnancy, Dr. Low Dog suggests that, starting around the 34th week of pregnancy, expectant moms drink a cup of tea and spend 10 minutes or so writing a letter to baby every day.
Here’s her tea recipe, along with some gifting ideas.
- 2 cups raspberry leaf
- 1 cup nettle leaf
- ½ cup spearmint leaf
- Pour 1 cup of near-boiling water over 1 to 2 teaspoons of the herbs and steep for 5 minutes.
- Strain. Add honey or lemon, if desired.
- Store extra herbs in a cool, dark cupboard.
To make this gift, mix all the herbs together in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. Tie a festive ribbon around the neck and attach a label or tag with the name of the tea and brewing instructions. Bundle into a box or bag with a blank journal (or even a neat notebook) and a pen.
For the Not-So-New Parents on Your List
Babies are exhausting, but raising older kids is no picnic, either! We think our Spiritual Chill blend is ideal for the experienced parents in your life who struggle to wind down after busy days of shuttling their kids around. When you throw in a package of aromatherapeutic bath salts, you’re providing everything necessary for an evening unwinding ritual.
For the Workout Warrior
Have a friend, family member, favorite coach or trainer on your list? Wildcrafter’s Inner Warrior coffee is the perfect way to help them get amped up and have the energy to make it through any tough workout. Pair it with a reusable water bottle, a foam roller to help them recover or a bundle of their favorite post-workout snacks for a gift they’re sure to use and love.
For Your Favorite Teacher
Teaching is tough! Not only are these unsung heroes doing incredibly important work that often goes unappreciated, they’re also constantly exposed to illness thanks to their students.
For the teacher in your life whose immune system could use some support,* we suggest a “get well soon” kit that includes Wildcrafter’s Immune Shield as well as a box of tissues and a jar of honey. If you have enough time, you can prepare a jar of garlic honey. Here’s a recipe.
- 1 small mason jar, thoroughly cleaned with boiling water
- 12-16 garlic cloves, peeled and gently mashed (not minced) with flat side of knife
- Raw, local honey
Place peeled, gently mashed garlic in clean mason jar and cover completely with honey. Leave one inch of space at the top. Cover and let sit at room temperature for 4-5 days, then refrigerate. Will last for 6-8 weeks.
For the On-The-Go Friend
People are busier than ever these days, and all that “go go go” can take a toll on our health. For the friend in your life who never seems to stop moving, we recommend our Daily Ritual Pack. This set of Wildcrafter coffee blends contains everything your busy buddy needs to naturally power through their day and then finally relax and recharge at the end.
For the Stressed Student
Whether your loved one is a high school freshman or a PhD candidate, chances are they spend a lot of time studying (and stressing). To help the student on your list find focus, we suggest a box of our Creative Focus blend—and maybe a pair of noise-cancelling headphones to help them block out distractions while they work.
Happy, Healthy Holidays
No matter how you choose to celebrate, we hope your holiday is merry and bright. From our Wildcrafter family to yours, we wish you all the joys of the season (and none of the stress)!
